Most women know, you put lipstick on and the next thing
you know, it's coming off on everything - your clothes, your napkin. Several
long-lasting lipsticks promise to last all day and won't kiss off.
ABC7'S Heather Sullivan found out which one works best
and which ones you should kiss goodbye.
Irene Colavito constantly has to reapply her lipstick.
“It doesn't last long, it comes off on your napkin,
your coffee cup, your significant other,” said Colavito.
So we asked her to wear three different long-lasting
lipsticks, Igia Permanent Kiss, Revlon Colorstay, and Cover Girl Outlast, to
see how long they last. Then we tested them to see if they stay put.
To test out all three lipsticks, Colavito will give them
the kiss test. We asked her to press her lips on a white mug and on a white
napkin.
First she wore Igia Permanent Kiss, but it started to
fade after just one hour.
It did not kiss off on the napkin or mug, but it clumped
on her lips.
“It's caking, it's fading, and when you put it on it
has a medicinal feel to it. Taste, smell, like something of an alcohol bottle,”
said Colavito.
Then she tried Revlon Colorstay, which lasted five
hours, and wasn't as dry. But some came off in the kiss test.
“Just a little bit came off, much less than a regular
lipstick,” said Colavito.
Finally, she put on Cover Girl Outlast. It stayed on and
stayed moist for 24 hours.
“It stayed on all day. In fact, I went to bed with it
and woke up the next morning and there it was, just like I just put it on,”
said Colavito.
Some came off in the kiss test, but not much. So next
time Colavito needs her lipstick to last, she'll turn to cover girl outlast.
“I would say absolutely go with Cover Girl,” said
Colavito.
You can find Cover Girl Outlast in most grocery and drug
stores for about $6.
